Conmed enters Kentucky market

Conmed Healthcare Management Inc., of Hanover, a provider of health care services for correctional institutions, said it has entered the Kentucky market with the award of a contract by Marion County, Ky., to provide correctional health care services for the approximately 300 inmates of the Marion County Detention Center.

The contract is effective April 1, 2012, and is expected to generate revenues for Conmed of approximately $300,000 during the initial 12-month term. The contract has the option for additional one-year renewals. The contract includes physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, laboratory, X-ray, pharmacy, emergency department and hospitalization.

Conmed now serves correctional facilities in 10 states, including Maryland.
