Murthy appointed to Harvard Law, AGC peer review committees

Sheela Murthy, president and founder of the Murthy Law Firm, has been named to the Harvard Law School Dean’s Visiting Committee and invited for reappointment to the Peer Review Committee of the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission.

The HLS committee convenes every two years and meets with students and faculty, attends classes and makes recommendations to the dean about the future of the law school.

Murthy has already served as a member and chairwoman on various panels of the AGC’s peer review committee for more than 12 years.

Among her other honors, Murthy was presented with the 2012 I-Fund Leadership Award from the Independent College Fund of Maryland. She also received the Small Business of the Year Award by the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Murthy serves on boards for a number of organizations including the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Maryland Chamber of Commerce, American Immigration Council and Stevenson University. In addition, she helps lead United Way International and United Way of Central Maryland, which named her the 2009 Philanthropist of the Year.
