Professor Byron L. Warnken will receive the Robert C. Heeney Award, a lifetime achievement honor from within Maryland’s criminal law community.
The Heeney recipient is selected annually by the Maryland State Bar Association Criminal Law & Practice Section, and Warnken is only the second academic to receive the award in its 31-year history.
Warnken has been a professor at the University of Baltimore School of Law for 35 years and will publish a 1,200-page treatise on Maryland Criminal Procedure next year. He was named UB Law’s alumnus of the year in 2006 and law professor of the year in 2010.
Warnken is also a principal at Warnken LLC.
