Andrea Hendler has joined Business Volunteers Unlimited Maryland as senior manager of the Board Leadership Program. Hendler will coordinate the education and leadership development programs for participants from BVU’s 60 member companies and will work with BVU’s network of 300 local nonprofits to provide them with qualified volunteer leaders.
Before joining BVU, Hendler served as a consultant to nonprofit organizations and foundations in North America and Israel. She is a former director of the Muehlstein Institute for Jewish Professional Leadership at UJA-Federation of New York. While there, she was responsible for the design and implementation of fellowship programs, workshops, conferences and seminars for professional and volunteer leaders within the organization’s network of affiliated agencies.
Hendler has also held director-level positions with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, the Council of Jewish Federations (now Jewish Federations of North America) and Project Interchange.
Hendler is a graduate of the University of Vermont and earned master’s degrees at Baltimore Hebrew University and the University of Maryland.
