Small business feeling better, but not great in April

The National Federation of Independent Business reported Tuesday that its index of small business optimism gained 2 points in April, to reach 94.5. The increase makes up for the drop in March, but only returns the index to February 2011 levels.

“It’s a modest improvement but an improvement nevertheless, and that’s important,” Ellen Valentino,  Maryland director for the NFIB, said in a statement.  “Small business owners are still concerned about the mess in Washington, but we’re seeing a very faint light at the end of the tunnel.”
