Douglas Liu, senior vice president of global operations at Qiagen, has been named to the board of directors of BioHealth Innovation Inc., a Rockville-based private-public partnership that focuses on commercializing innovations in biohealth and increasing access to early-stage funding in Central Maryland.
Liu joined Qiagen, a German-based diagnostics company with a campus in Germantown, in 2005 after working at Bayer Healthcare and Bayer AG. He has an M.B.A. from Boston University and a science degree from the University of Illinois.
Liu lived and worked in Germany for five years; since returning to the U.S. in 2007, he has served on several local boards, including the Governor’s International Advisory Council and the board of MdBio/Tech Council of Maryland.
