Constellation, Exelon give science center $1.8M

Constellation Energy and its parent company, Chicago-based Exelon Corp., announced a combined $1.8 million donation to the Maryland Science Center for the creation of a new, state-of-the-art energy exhibit.

Expected to open in late 2013, the multimedia, interactive exhibit will contain detailed displays about how energy is produced, and how it can be conserved and used more efficiently.

As part of its acquisition of Constellation in March 2012, Exelon agreed to maintain charitable giving of at least $7 million each year in Maryland and Baltimore combined for the next 10 years. The gift to the science center fulfills part of that commitment.
