Law students take part in University of Md., Baltimore commencement

Graduates of the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law received their diplomas Friday afternoon, along with the schools of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, social work and the Graduate School at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

After a law school hooding ceremony at the Hippodrome Theatre on Friday morning, about 1,600 students in all walked across the stage during commencement at 1st Mariner Arena. Graduates walked to the ceremony from the University Plaza, down Baltimore Street to the arena before the ceremony.

Freeman A. Hrabowski III, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, was the keynote speaker at the event. Hrabowski was recently named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.

University of Baltimore School of Law students received their law degrees on May 7. DLA Piper US LLP partner William F. Kiniry Jr. spoke at the ceremony, which was at the Patricia and Arthur Modell Performing Arts Center at The Lyric.
