Baltimore police arrest suspect in Craigslist robberies

Baltimore police have arrested a suspect in four robberies in which the victims were Craigslist users looking to buy coins, jewelry and dirt bikes.

A police spokesman says investigators found 26-year-old David Brown on Friday as he used a public computer at a city library.

Police accuse him of organizing four robberies in which would-be buyers were lured to the same location in northwest Baltimore. In an earlier description of the crimes, police said the supposed buyer displayed a gun and stole up to $2,700 in cash. In one case in November, a gun was fired during a struggle, but the victim wasn’t hurt.

Police recommend that people looking to buy items off Craigslist meet sellers in well-lit, well-populated areas and use cashier’s checks.
