James D. Witty has joined Susquehanna Bank as regional president for the Baltimore area and eastern Maryland.
Witty will provide leadership to Susquehanna’s commercial and retail banking teams in Baltimore city and Baltimore, Carroll, Howard, Anne Arundel, Harford and Worcester counties. The bank operates 23 branches in the region and is Baltimore’s seventh-largest bank, with more than $1 billion in deposits.
Witty worked most recently as senior vice president/commercial banking unit manager in Baltimore for PNC Bank. Previous to the PNC merger in 2007, Witty oversaw Mercantile-Safe Deposit & Trust Company’s Asset Based Lending Department. Between his tenure with Mercantile and PNC, he has more than 24 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry.
Witty has been active as a community volunteer throughout his career, and he serves on the board of trustees of The Baltimore Zoo and as a trustee, treasurer and member of the executive committee of The Irvine Nature Center.
A resident of Reisterstown, he earned a bachelor of science degree in finance from Lehigh University.
