Karl Marshall Walker Jr., a former teacher’s aide in Howard County, was properly convicted of sexual abuse and attempted sexual abuse of a minor, the Court of Special Appeals held.
The evidence included more than two dozen letters that Walker, then 38, wrote to the “C.B.,” fantasizing about holding her in his arms and taking her to Las Vegas.
“While there was no evidence that [Walker’s] interactions with C.B. fell within the scope of ‘sexual contact’ …, the magnitude of the conduct provided sufficient evidence for the circuit court to convict appellant of sexual abuse of a minor,” Judge Michelle D. Hotten wrote Thursday for the appeals court.
Walker, convicted in September 2010, is serving a seven-year sentence, to be followed by five years of supervised probation.
The case is Walker v. State, No. 2733, Sept. 2011 Term.
