About 500 slot machines are being installed at the Maryland Live casino at Arundel Mills mall this week, as the state’s largest facility prepares to open the next segment of what will ultimately be the casino with the third-most slots in the nation.
Robert J. Norton, the casino’s general manager, said the 500 machines and an additional bar will be open by the end of the month. Rams Head Center Stage, the casino’s live entertainment venue, should open in September.
Norton called the bar and Rams Head a “game changer” for the state’s casino industry.
The casino had an impressive first month of operations, generating $28.5 million after opening on the evening of July 6 with just under 3,200 slot machines.
When it’s fully operational by late fall, Maryland Live will have 4,750 slot machines, the most allowed by law.
