Ellis honored by MDDCCUA

Patricia J. Ellis has received the 2012 Volunteer of the Year Award from the Maryland & District of Columbia Credit Union Association for her work with HEW Federal Credit Union.

MDDCCUA’s Volunteer of the Year Award, the Janet C. Glomp Memorial, is presented annually to a credit union volunteer who exemplifies a dedication to serving members’ needs; has participated in credit union activities at a chapter, League, and national level; and above all, has demonstrated an overall spirit of cooperation and teamwork within the credit union.

A volunteer with the credit union since 1981, Ellis has led the 20,053-member organization to a number of successes highlighted by membership and loan growth, consumer advocacy, financial literacy outreach, and governmental affairs initiatives. She was inducted into the Credit Union Executive Society’s Volunteer Hall of Fame in 2010 and is also an inductee of the National Association of Federal Credit Unions’ Quarter Century Honor Roll for service to the credit union movement.

Ellis was presented with the MDDCCUA’s Volunteer of the Year Award during the organization’s 2012 Annual Meeting and Conventionin Ocean City.
