In an Associated Press feature on Frank Schubert, a political consultant who is directing campaigns to win bans on gay marriage at the polls in four states, including Maryland, Schubert says: “Five thousand years have shown that marriage between a man and a woman serves us well.”
He’s been a success, helping unseat three Iowa Supreme Court judges who ruled in favor of gay marriage, reversing a law in Maine and, as AP put it, “he engineered passage of North Carolina’s gay marriage ban.”
Schubert’s campaigns wouldn’t necessarily be supported throughout his own family. He has a younger sister who is gay and is raising children with her partner.
“I love my sister very much,” he said, “and I wanted her to know that my working on this issue was not a reflection of me seeing her as a less valuable person.”
