House Speaker Michael E. Busch, D-Anne Arundel, joked months ago that there’d one day be a slot machine on every corner.
That may not be likely, but gambling could be in just about every household if the General Assembly decides to legalize Internet gambling.
The Baltimore Sun reports that Busch has mentioned Internet gambling as something necessary to consider in next week’s special session in order for Maryland to stay competitive with neighboring states.
Here’s a few other government headlines from around the web:
- The Daily Record and others report on the Port of Baltimore’s record first half of 2012.
- The Washington Post reports that the Montgomery County delegation to the House of Delegates met Thursday to discuss the special session.
- The Associated Press reports that Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold’s trial has been postponed.
