Douglas Erdman, co-owner and president of Community Realty Co., was re-elected president of the board of The Arc Howard County.
Ed Wilson, executive director of association sales for Constellation Energy, was elected vice-president. Dorothy Plantz, interim director for the Office of Admission and Advising at Howard Community College, was elected secretary. Derward Brooks, retired director of Utility Accounting Service with General Growth Properties, was re-elected treasurer. Bob Topper is President Emeritus.
Three new board members were elected at the annual meeting: Alex Barnes, Cathy Cope and Julie Foley.
Barnes is currently in transition from his parents’ home to a group home in Columbia. He is vice president of People Power and active in Special Olympics.
Cope is a technical director in the Division of Children’s Health Insurance Programs. She has been a volunteer with The Arc since 2002 when she became a member of the Human Rights & Behavior Support Committee. Her son has received respite care services through The Arc.
Foley has worked in the human resources field for 15 years and is a founder of Parents for Parents, which provides support and education about special education. She was presented an Award of Excellence by The Arc in 2009.
