ELLICOTT CITY — CSX says trains should be moving through Ellicott City again soon, resuming a route that had been stopped after a train derailment there killed two young women.
CSX says it expects to begin operations again in the area on Thursday but did not give a time.
The derailment happened around midnight Monday. A total of 21 cars of an 80-car freight train derailed. Two 19-year-old women who were sitting on one side of a train bridge were found buried under coal the train was carrying and spilled in the derailment.
Funerals for the two women, Elizabeth Conway Nass and Rose Louese Mayr, are planned for Friday and Saturday. An investigation into the derailment is ongoing.
