ELLICOTT CITY — Authorities have installed a fence and police have increased patrols near the site of a fatal train derailment.
A fence is at the top of the stairs leading to the elevated tracks over Main Street. Two young women were sitting on the edge of a downtown train bridge when 21 cars derailed, burying them in coal on Aug. 20.
Howard County Executive Ken Ulman tells WBAL-AM that police patrols have increased around the tracks to discourage trespassers.
The accident is still under investigation.
