Baltimore’s NFL owner is richer than D.C.’s NFL owner

In addition to having a way better football team, Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti can claim another — and some may say more important — advantage over Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder.

Bisciotti has more money.

At least that’s what Forbes magazine says in its annual Forbes 400 ranking of the richest people in the United States.

According to Forbes, Bisciotti, 52, is No. 298 on the list with a net worth of $1.6 billion. Snyder, 47, comes in at No. 392 with a net worth of “only” $1.1 billion.

The richest person in Maryland? Glad you asked. That would be my long-lost uncle Ted Lerner of Chevy Chase. The real estate mogul and principal owner of the Washington Nationals is No. 100 on the list at $3.9 billion.

The other name of note for Baltimore-area folks is Under Armour founder Kevin Plank, whose net worth of $1.35 billion puts him at No. 345.

There are five other Marylanders on the list: No. 118, Mitchell Rales of Potomac; Richard Marriott of Potomac and David Rubenstein of Bethesda, tied for No. 250 at $1.9 billion; William Marriott Jr. of Potomac, tied with Bisciotti at No. 298 at $1.6 billion; and Bernard Saul II of Chevy Chase, No. 360 at $1.2 billion.
