Chandler named new provost at Towson University

Timothy Chandler, former senior associate provost at Ohio’s Kent State University, has been named provost and vice president for academic affairs at Towson University. TU President Maravene Loeschke announced Chandler’s appointment on Friday. The appointment takes effect on Jan. 14, 2013.

Chandler has been at Kent State since 2001, and has held several administration posts including Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Dean of the College of Fine and Professional Arts. A sport historian, Chandler holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University.

He will replace former Provost Marcia Welsh, who recently took over as president of East Stroudsburg University.
