When the lights went out at home on Monday evening, I fully expected to be without power well through Tuesday, possibly longer. The media messages conveyed by BGE were clear: We’ll work as fast as we can, but we’ll be limited in how much we can do while superstorm Sandy is still blowing through the region.
And though that sounded perfectly understandable and quite reasonable, BGE had lowered expectations of a quick restoration of service.
So it was quite a pleasant surprise when the power was restored in our area early Tuesday morning. Never had the swoosh of the sump pump sounded better.
We were quite fortunate. With the power out for only about 12 hours, our biggest impact might have been that, though I brought home Girl Scout cookies Monday, we weren’t able to enjoy frozen Thin Mints.
