Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz on Tuesday announced a new telecommuting policy for county employees that will allow approved employees to work remotely for up to 50 percent of their two-week pay period.
“Especially in competitive fields like information technology, the opportunity to work from home can be a valuable job benefit that helps attract and retain talented employees,” Kamenetz said in a release.
All non-probationary county employees may apply for telework permission beginning in January. Managers will consider applications on a case-by-case basis.
The county is cautioning that not all jobs or employees are adaptable to remote work.
