O’Malley waiting on Colorado lamb chops

If Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper wants a Maryland crab cake, he’ll have to make a trip to the East Coast to enjoy it.

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley won a wager with his Rocky Mountain counterpart Saturday when the Baltimore Ravens stunned the Denver Broncos, winning in a double-overtime playoff game.

Asked Monday if he was ready to enjoy the lamb chops Hickenlooper promised if the Ravens won, O’Malley eagerly answered the question.

“I understand from Gov. Hickenlooper that the lambs have been chopped and are on route,” O’Malley told those gathered at the Betamore technology incubator in Federal Hill.

O’Malley said he’d let reporters know when the lamb chops came in, and would extend an invitation for a “brown bag” lunch, featuring the chops.

Some reporters, bound by ethics, are likely to politely decline such a treat from the governor. Otherwise, the winning wager would make an already delicious victory even more tasty.
