Corporate grants and awards

Lockheed Martin Corp., of Bethesda, has given $10,000 to Bowie State University to advance participation and performance of students in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM).

The university will use the funding to continue developing educational programs aimed at recruiting and retaining students in STEAM-related disciplines of study.

Also, the Columbia Foundation, which raises, manages and distributes funds to support Howard County nonprofits, received $10,000 from Northwest Savings Bank to establish an unrestricted endowment fund in the bank’s name.

Separately, the Y of Central Maryland received a $15,000 grant from JCPenney to provide financial aid to school children in Baltimore and Harford County who attend after-school programs at the Y.
