BGE warns of snow-related power cutoffs

Baltimore Gas & Electric Co. said Monday it has made an initial request through mutual assistance networks for up to 500 out-of-state utility workers, as it prepares for what could be a significant winter storm later this week.

Weather forecasters are predicting heavy, wet snow and wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour across the majority of BGE’s Central Maryland service area on Wednesday. Snow accumulations of between six to 15 inches are forecast. BGE is warning of potential extended power outages, and requesting customers to take steps to prepare for possibly lengthy periods without electric power.
