Md. lawmaker to discuss medical marijuana measure

ANNAPOLIS — Delegate Cheryl Glenn wants Maryland to become the 19th state, including the District of Columbia, to provide a system for regulated medical marijuana use.

The Baltimore City Democrat will hold a news conference Thursday to discuss a bill that would allow the state to regulate the distribution of medical marijuana through compassion centers for patients with chronic or debilitating medical conditions.

Florida stockbroker Irvin Rosenfeld is expected to deliver remarks during the event.

Officials say that Rosenfeld was one of the few Florida residents allowed to participate in a federal medical marijuana program.

Glenn has already introduced medical marijuana legislation.

The House Judiciary Committee and Heath and Government Operations Committee will hold a joint hearing for the measure Friday.
