A new report released by the National Beer Wholesalers Association, of Alexandria, Va., shows the impact of beer distributors’ contributions to Maryland’s economy.
According to the report, Maryland beer distributors directly employ 1,787 people. The total number of jobs rises to 4,919 when distributor operations, capital investment and community involvement are included. Maryland beer distributors generate $784 million in total economic impacts; and their activities contribute $177 million to federal, state and local tax bases.
When federal, state and local alcohol excise and consumption taxes on beer sold in Maryland are considered, the economic impact rises by another $159 million.
