A wacky suburban Baltimore art show featuring creations made from Peeps candies will be featured this weekend on the NBC Nightly News.
A story on the 6th annual Carroll County Arts Council’s PEEPshow will air on the 6:30 p.m. newscast to help commemorate the 60th anniversary of the colorful, sugar coated marshmallow candy. The PEEPshow opened Thursday and will run through April 7 at the Arts Council, located at 91 Main Street in Westminster.
Last year, about 19,000 Peeps were used to help create figurines and sculptures in the show. Some past creations have included a Lorax, the “Peep Panther,” monsters and “Justin Peeper.”
Sandy Oxx, executive director of the Carroll County Arts Council, said she started the Peep show six years ago as a way to create outsider art. Visitors can vote for their favorite Peep creations with chips that cost $1 each as a fundraiser for the council.
