Health insurers are filing health benefit plans designed to be sold in the individual and small group markets on the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange.

Their deadline is Monday.

Maryland Insurance Administration Spokesperson Vivian D. Laxton says once filings are considered complete by the Insurance Administration, they will be posted on the administration’s website.

A measure to further implement federal health care reform in Maryland passed the House of Delegates last week.

The measure creates a dedicated funding stream for the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange, a new insurance market that will offer residents a choice of private health plans.

While the exchange is on track to be up and running by Jan. 1, the state will begin paying roughly $24 million in fiscal year 2015.
