EASTON — Karen Salmon, superintendent of the Talbot County schools for 10 years, has announced her plans to retire.
Salmon, who has worked in the county’s public schools for 24 years, says she will step down on July 31.
Salmon was appointed superintendent in 2003 after J. Sam Meek died. She was re-appointed to four-year terms in 2008 and 2012.
Last year, Salmon was named Maryland Superintendent of the Year.
The Star Democrat of Easton reports that the county Board of Education will discuss the process for finding a new superintendent at its April 17 meeting.
