United Cerebral Palsy of Central Maryland announced on Monday that it has changed its name, effective immediately, to Unified Community Connections (UC2).
Officials of the Hunt Valley-based nonprofit explained that more than 50 percent of the organization’s clientele have conditions other than cerebral palsy, and many have multiple disabilities, including Down syndrome, spina bifida and traumatic brain injury, as well as other disabilities and chronic health issues. The new name also encompasses the organization’s clients in other parts of the state, outside of Central Maryland.
The staff and services provided by the organization remain the same.
