Young Md. company awarded SBIR grant

Remedium Technologies Inc., of College Park, a startup company founded by University of Maryland graduates, has been awarded a $500,000 Small Business Innovation Research grant from the National Science Foundation to test Hemogrip Foam, the company’s sprayable foam to rapidly stop traumatic bleeding.

Hemogrip is a high-pressure foam that can expand into an injured body cavity, adhere to tissue and stop hemorrhaging within minutes.

The company is completing pre-clinical trials in collaboration with Massachusetts General Hospital and the University of Maryland to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Hemogrip Foam in controlling non-compressible hemorrhaging, i.e., bleeding not accessible to direct pressure.
