Catholic school gets largest gift ever

Vincent “Vinny” Smith, a software executive who twice was CEO of California-based Quest Software, has pledged $4 million to Mount Saint Joseph High School, from which he graduated in 1982, the Catholic college preparatory school for young men announced.

Smith’s contribution will go toward a fundraising campaign for improved athletic facilities.

The gift — the largest in Mount Saint Joseph’s history — gives Smith naming rights to the $18.5 million athletic complex, for which $14.4 million has been raised so far.

Smith was CEO of Quest Software twice, from 1997-2008 and again from February to September 2012, when Dell acquired Quest for $2.4 billion.
