RICHMOND, Va. — The case of a former University of Virginia lacrosse player convicted of killing his former girlfriend will be heard by the state Court of Appeals.
George W. Huguely V is serving a 23-year sentence for the slaying of fellow student Yeardley Love, a Cockeysville woman who was also a U.Va. lacrosse player.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch says the decision this week by a single judge can be challenged by either party.
Huguely was convicted of second-degree murder in Love’s May 2010 death. The Chevy Chase man killed Love in a violent confrontation in her Charlottesville apartment.
The two had had an on-again, off-again relationship.
