The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. LLC, of Chevy Chase, announced plans to open its first property in Rabat, the capital of Morocco.
The urban resort is being built within the grounds of a golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones more than 40 years ago.
The luxury resort will have 120 guest rooms, and 15 one-bedroom and five two-bedroom villas.
Completion is expected in December 2014. Ritz-Carlton, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bethesda-based Marriott International Inc., currently operates 82 hotels in the Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean, and has more than 30 hotel and residential projects under development.
