BGE provides funds to aid nonprofits

Baltimore Gas and Electric Co., a unit of Chicago-based Exelon Corp., announced that it provided nearly $1 million to 72 nonprofit organizations through the first four months of 2013.

Examples of the organizations that received charitable contributions from BGE include the United Way of Central Maryland and the United Way chapters in each of the counties served by BGE, Associated Black Charities, Baltimore Community ToolBank, Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake and others.

Funds were used to purchase lifesaving equipment for emergency response and safety operations; upgrade heating equipment for limited-income homes; provide more than 9,000 trees for customers; and buy tools and equipment for various community enhancement and service projects.
