The Catch A Lift Memorial Fund, a Baltimore-based nonprofit established in memory of Baltimore native Chris Coffland, an Army Reservist who was killed in Afghanistan, is asking people to donate, volunteer or become a corporate sponsor for its unusual mission.
The fund provides free gym memberships or in-home exercise equipment at no cost to honorably discharged veterans, from all military service branches, who were wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan post 9/11.
Coffland was a physical fitness enthusiast who enlisted in the Army Reserve at the age of 40.
He set an Army record of completing 128 pushups within a minute.
