The Emmitsburg-based National Fallen Firefighters Foundation has been awarded a $998,500 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant to continue “Everyone Goes Home,” its online learning and distance education program.

Announcement of the grant was made by U.S. Sens. Barbara A. Mikulski, chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and Ben Cardin, a member of the Senate Finance Committee, both Maryland Democrats.

The NFFF will use the award funds to continue and expand its Everyone Goes Home program, which works to prevent firefighter line of duty deaths and injuries through increased training and awareness.

Including this award, the NFFF has received nearly $8 million to support the program since its inception in 2005.
