FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Fredericksburg fans and foes are getting an opportunity to speak out on a proposal to build a stadium for a minor league baseball.
The City Council has scheduled a public meeting on the matter for Tuesday night.
The Class A farm team of the Washington Nationals, the Hagerstown Suns, has proposed a 30-year lease for a publicly financed stadium that would seat 5,000.
The Free Lance-Star reports that the city may have to issue as much as $33 million in bonds to finance the project.
Baseball supporters are planning a rally outside City Hall before the meeting.
