‘House’ of awards?

House of CardsIt was only 18 months ago when the news came out about “House of Cards” filming in Maryland.

State film officials estimated it “would spur $75 million in spending in the state and create more than 2,000 jobs for local crew, actors and extras,” according to our report at the time.

Since then, Netflix’s first original dramatic series has filmed at various locations throughout Maryland, including Harford County and the State House.

One Thursday, “House of Cards” received nine Emmy nominations, including for best drama series, the first time an online series has been nominated for the awards show’s top prize.

Season two filming is well underway, and the Emmy nomination might mean more chances to spot Kevin Spacey in Baltimore for years to come.
