National Day of Service comes to Baltimore’s Oliver neighborhood

On Wednesday, Sept. 11, designated as the “National Day of Service,” more than 200 volunteers from seven of the Baltimore area’s largest employers and corporate philanthropists will help revitalize the Oliver neighborhood of Baltimore City — an area struggling with poverty, neglect, vacant homes and lack of recreational space for children.

Participating companies are BGE, CareFirst, Constellation, Legg Mason Inc., T. Rowe Price Group, Under Armour Inc. and Wells Fargo.

The effort is part of Operation Oliver, an ongoing neighborhood revitalization initiative led by The 6th Branch, a veteran-led, nonprofit organization that uses the leadership and organizational skills of veterans to execute community service initiatives at the local level.
