Baltimore awarded federal grant to open MBE jobs agency

Baltimore has been awarded a $900,000 grant from the U.S. Commerce Department to establish a Minority Business Development Agency Business Center in the city.

The center will work to create and retain jobs by providing sophisticated consulting services and facilitating access to contracts, capital and new international market opportunities to eligible minority-owned businesses.

The three-year grant is part of a $7.3 million package of grants going to seven American cities: Baltimore, Bridgeport, Conn., Houston, New York, San Francisco, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C. They will join a network of 40 MBDA Business Centers across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
