John M. Lazarou, former senior media relations representative and assistant director of media relations for marketing services for Johns Hopkins Medicine, has joined Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) as their new media relations manager.
In this role, Lazarou will facilitate print, broadcast and online media coverage of GBMC news and will help journalists tap the expertise of GBMC’s medical experts.
“John brings excellent media and public relations credentials to the position of media relations manager,” says Michael P. Hartnett, director of marketing at GBMC. “I am thrilled that he has joined our organization and I look forward to a productive working relationship.”
At Hopkins, Lazarou proactively worked to place stories on local, regional and national levels and worked in a collaborative manner with the Johns Hopkins Medicine’s marketing staff to develop newsworthy media messages and stories which resulted in strategic news coverage for The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Prior to joining Hopkins in 2002, Lazarou worked for one of the world’s leading global public relations firms and as a media liaison for Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, a 247-bed general medical and surgical community hospital, in Northern New Jersey.
He received his bachelor of arts in communications from Temple University in Philadelphia, and holds a master of arts in liberal studies from Fordham University in New York.
