Linda Kelly, RN, FNE-A, SANE-A, clinical program manager for the Greater Baltimore Medical Center’s (GBMC) SAFE Program and a commissioner for The Baltimore County Commission for Women, participated with the commission in a recent event that recognized the groups efforts to educate the public and raise awareness about the issue of human trafficking in Maryland.
GBMC already provides the only Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) program to treat adolescent and adult victims (ages 13 and older) of sexual assault in Baltimore County.
The Baltimore County Commission’s “Power of the Purse” campaign received an achievement award from the National Association of Commissions for Women (NACW).
The initiative featured a fundraising event encouraging women to donate gently used purses to benefit the non-profit Samaritan Women’s Restoration Home, which provides services to individuals harmed by domestic human trafficking.
