Marriott opens luxury hotel in Hanoi

Marriott International Inc., of Bethesda, the largest publicly traded hotel company in the United States, announced the opening of a luxury JW Marriott Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Developed by Bitexco Group, a Vietnamese company, and designed by New York-based Carlos Zapata Studio, the 450-room, 800,000-square-foot hotel is the first JW Marriott Hotel in Vietnam, and the brand’s third to open in Asia within the past two months (others are in Bangalore and New Delhi, India).

Marriott International has more than 3,700 properties in 74 countries and territories worldwide.

The company expects to more than double in size in Asia — from 144 hotels open currently to more than 330 by 2017.
