Charity hurts, as the saying goes.
In the case of Del. Jon S. Cardin, D-Baltimore, it just hurts other people’s eyes.
Cardin appeared on the floor looking like a cross between an Elvis impersonator and Andy Kaufman’s lounge singer character Tony Clifton [And Andy, if you are out there, let’s talk].
The costume and the the reason behind it are all for a good cause.
Cardin, who fellow Del. Aruna Miller described as the “AG wanna be” is plunging today in the 18th Annual Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge.
A number of other Maryland legislators are also participating including Sen. Allan H. Kittleman, R-Howard, is also plunging—as a super plunger who goes into the icy Chesapeake once and hour for 24 hours. He’s tweeting about it live from Sandy Point State Park.
At Eye on Annapolis, we’d prefer to go in just once. But if it’s a choice between 24 trips into the water or wearing an outfit like Cardin’s, well let’s just say 24 plunges is for a really good cause.
