Merritt Properties touts strong 2013 ending

Merritt Properties is touting a strong fourth quarter in 2013 after commercial leasing picked up, particularly in warehouse space.
According to the company, it signed 600,000 square feet of new leases in total in the fourth quarter and about 2 million square feet overall.
“Merritt was fortunate to see strong leasing activity originating from a wide range of industry segments,” Merritt Properties CEO Scott Dorsey said in a new release. “From manufacturing to communications to financial services, we saw an uptick across the board.”
Warehousing made up the majority of the growth for the company, highlighted by a 43,000-square-foot expansion by Under Armour.
The company experienced gains in office and flex space throughout the year in the north corridor of Interstate 83 and in Columbia. Merritt Properties signed a combined 63 leases consisting of about 218,438 square feet of space in both locations.
