State unemployment rate falls

Maryland lost about 600 jobs in February, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday, and the state unemployment rate dropped to 5.7 percent.

A leader in job gains was the leisure and hospitality sector, which added 3,900 jobs in the month.

The report follows a much more dramatic loss of 6,100 jobs in January. This is a revised count, as the preliminary January results showed a greater loss of 9,800 jobs.

Despite the losses in January and February, the state has 7.600 more jobs than it had in February of 2013.
