St. Mary’s College of Maryland announced it will reduce tuition for in-state students by more than $1,000, starting with the fall semester, as a result of $1.5 million in additional funding included in the new state budget for fiscal year 2015.
The current tuition of $12,245 for in-state undergraduates will drop by 8.6 percent to the new total of $11,195.
College officials said none of the additional funding will be used to augment the college’s operating budget, but will be used entirely to help Maryland families.
Currently, 85 percent of St. Mary’s more than 2,000 students come from Maryland, according to the college.
