Mercy Health Services to be honored

Loyola University Maryland’s Sellinger School of Business said Thursday it will present its 2014 Business Leader of the Year Award in October to Sister Helen Amos, executive chair of the board of trustees of Mercy Health Services, and the leadership of Mercy Health Services.

Karyl B. Leggio, dean of the Sellinger School, cited Mercy Health Services’ “incredible contributions” to Baltimore as a provider of employment, top-quality health care and social justice.

Sister Helen has been executive chair since 1999 and president and CEO from 1992-1999.

During that time, Mercy has become the eighth largest private-sector employer in the Baltimore region, expanded its reach and facilities, and generates $600 million in annual revenue from its network of primary care and specialist physicians.
